CALL FOR SPEAKER PROPOSALS

2024 NORTHWEST FLOWER & GARDEN SHOW
The 2024 show will be held at the Seattle Convention Center on February 14 – 18, 2024. By submitting a proposal to be a seminar speaker you are agreeing to appear on one or more of the show dates for the honorarium provided should your proposal be accepted.

SEMINAR SPEAKER PROPOSAL
If you are interested in being a Speaker at the upcoming garden show, submit your proposal using the online form below. If you have a specific question about submitting a proposal, please contact Jeff Swenson at jeffs@mpeshows.com.

HONORARIUM
The show provides an honorarium of $300 for each seminar given. No travel, lodging or other accommodations are provided. The show partners with a nearby Seattle hotel for a reduced rate for show participants. Speakers receive entry to all show days, 5 complimentary tickets and 10% off food and beverage purchased at the show.

AUTHORS
All Speakers who are authors are scheduled for a book signing immediately after their seminars. The show partners with a reputable book dealer to sell all Speaker books and manage the Book Signing Station. The show extensively promotes speaker book signings.

SEMINAR SELECTION PROCESS
Higher priority will be given to those seminars that cover the following topics:

  • Growing plants compatible with Zones 6 - 9.
  • Creating beautiful, livable, eco-friendly, family-friendly outdoor spaces.
  • Soil science, garden-health connections and climate change impact.
  • Edible gardening, foodscaping, and urban farming.
  • Sustainable gardens using native plants and gardening for wildlife/pollinators.
  • Solving problems of plant pests and diseases and difficult garden conditions.
  • Garden renovation of older gardens and overgrown plants.
  • Reliable plants to grow and problem-solving plants for difficult growing conditions.
  • The latest in new plant introductions for all growing conditions.
  • Small space design for urban gardens, balconies and container design ideas.
  • Houseplants as indoor garden spaces, houseplant varieties and their care.
  • Creating garden art, self-care products and floral design from natural garden materials.
  • Gaining knowledge and skills in planting, pruning, maintenance, and tools.

Additionally, priority will be given to those seminars that propose to:

  • Provide hands-on demonstrations and projects for the DIY Stage.
  • Provide seminars with significant “take home” or “how to” messages.

DEADLINE
The deadline for proposals is MONDAY, JUNE 5, 2023. The seminar schedule is finalized four months before the show opens and publicity and ticket sales begin in late October. Due to the high demand to speak, late proposals may not be considered. All proposals received will be acknowledged. If acknowledgement is not received within five working days, contact jeffs@mpeshows.com.

ACCEPTANCE
Notices of acceptance of seminars, with scheduled topics, dates, times, and rooms will be emailed no later than SEPTEMBER 1, 2023. At that point it is impossible to change dates or times. Everyone submitting a proposal will be notified of their status.

GARDEN BOOK AUTHORS

SEMINAR TOPICS FOR CONSIDERATION

Submit up to 4 seminar topics and describe the content of each proposed seminar. Specify format with each seminar – digital or demonstration (required). ALL seminars are 60 minutes in length. Garden 101 seminars are 30 minutes and are selected from seminar proposals received.
