Ragged Thistle began as many good stories do....in the body of a young girl....
I grew up on the rugged California coast, where the Temperate Redwood Rainforests, and Wild Pacific Ocean shaped the rhythm of my days. Drawn to tiny treasure filled thrift shops, I fell in love with vintage garments for their handmade lace, unusual cuts, and quality fabrics. I taught myself to sew by deconstructing and remaking them, learning to stitch clothing that would fit both my body and my vision for life.
Ragged Thistle is an antidote to fast fashion and monotony. Each piece is an act of alchemy; silk slips become forests, velvet scraps blooming into flowers. I work with vintage findings, natural fibers, and dead-stock yardage, creating garments rich with texture and story.
Through needle, thread, and dye, I'm dreaming and stitching the world as I imagine it; into being.
