A life-long canner and homesteader, Theresa Loe is the on-air Canning Expert and the Co-Executive Producer for the national television gardening show “Growing A Greener World” on PBS. Each episode focuses on organic gardening, green living and farm-to-table food. Theresa is also the founder of LivingHomegrown.com – an online resource for foodie gardeners wanting to live farm fresh without the farm through artisan food crafts, organic gardening and sustainable living. The website includes DIY articles, the Living Homegrown Podcast and an online Canning Academy that focuses on capturing seasonal flavors of locally sourced food. Theresa studied both horticulture and professional culinary arts at UCLA, holds a BS degree in Engineering and is a graduate of the Master Food Preserver program. For the last 24 years, she has been homesteading and feeding her family of four on just 1/10th of an acre in the heart of Los Angeles. She raises chickens, organic produce and two teenage boys – no necessarily in that order. She is also in charge of an heirloom orchard restoration project on her family’s 1892 farmstead. Here she oversees the preserving of 18 acres of vintage apples, pears, plums, stone fruit and berries.
