Marty Wingate

Author, Landscaping for Privacy and The Potting Shed Mystery Series

Marty Wingate is a Seattle-based writer and speaker. She holds a master’s degree in urban horticulture from the University of Washington. Her garden books include Perennials for the Pacific Northwest: 500 Best Plants for Flower Gardeners (Sasquatch, 2014) and Landscaping for Privacy: Innovative Ways to Turn Your Outdoor Space into a Peaceful Retreat (Timber Press, 2011). Her articles appear in a variety of garden magazines. You can listen to Marty along with Steve Scher, Greg Rabourn, and Willi Galloway on their podcast, “A Dry Rain” (, available free on iTunes. Marty also writes fiction. The Garden Plot, first in the Potting Shed mystery series, was released by Alibi – a new digital imprint from Random House – in May (2014) followed by The Red Book of Primrose House in November. Potting Shed mysteries are available in all ebook formats. Marty is a member of the Royal Horticultural Society, the Northwest Horticultural Society, and Mystery Writers of America.
