Alex LaVilla has been the Perennial Plant Buyer/ Merchandising Manager at Swanson’s Nursery in Seattle, WA for over 25 years. He is the owner of Gardenculture Design, a horticultural consultation and design business in Seattle since 2001. Alex is a practicing artist and brings his painterly eye and sculptural sensibilities into his garden design work. He has been the Chair of the Perennial Plant Selection Committee of the Great Plant Picks program since 2001, an educational outreach sponsored by the Elizabeth Miller Botanical Garden and Miller Horticultural Trust. He received a Silver Medal for his design of the Swanson’s Nursery display garden for the 2001 NWFGS.
