Plant Market a Plant Lovers’ Dream

Plant Market a Plant Lovers’ Dream

Great finds in the middle of February!

The Northwest Flower & Garden Show is a great place to shop for a wide variety of plants, and we have a wonderful selection of specialty nurseries that bring you trees, shrubs, bulbs and perennials. This year we will have over 40 exhibitors in the Plant Market, so it’s time to think about where you might like to add some beautiful foliage or flowers to your garden.

And don’t forget – we have FREE package check, and large package load out! And for our Canadian friends, we offer FREE plant inspection at booth # 2622.

Here are just a few of the many great specialty nurseries coming to the show, which will be held February 20 – 24 at the Washington State Convention Center. Most are family owned and operated, and so we hope you will support these fine growers who bring you choice selections of unusual plants.

The Dahlia Barn in scenic North Bend, WA was established on an old horse farm in 2002. It is family owned and operated by Jerry and Aimee Sherrill. They offer both direct dahlia tubers as well as cut flowers during the growing season, and ship all over the U.S. at the time it’s best to plant for your region. They grow dahlias in both North Bend and Thorp, WA, and their North Bend farm also has a sample garden. It’s a great place to visit when the dahlias are in bloom and to pick up some fresh-cut flowers.

Furney’s Nursery has been inspiring gardeners for over 60 years. They grow your favorite trees, shrubs, annuals and perennials. These plants are all home-grown; Furney’s knows what grows best in Northwest gardens. They have over 135 acres of farmland and greenhouses, and are staffed with experienced growers. They take pride in the quality of their plants, and always have something new for the discerning Northwest gardeners.

River Rock Nursery is a family-owned and operated specialty nursery owned by Gretchen O’Brien in Portland, Oregon. The nursery is an outgrowth of over 30 years of collecting, propagating and cultivating unusual plants. They have a large selection of choice trees and shrubs just right for Northwest gardens, including smaller trees suitable for urban gardens and containers. They also specialize in grafted maples and dwarf conifers.

Put together a plant lover and someone with a huge fondness for gnomes and you have Jenny and Bill of My Garden Nursery in Mill Creek, WA. It’s a full service nursery focusing on people with smaller gardens who still want to have a lot of enjoyment – and fun – in their garden. They have an outstanding collection of smaller trees, shrubs, perennials and annuals, including a great collection of Heucheras. And you will always smile whenever you go there. (I know – it’s my hometown nursery, and this parade of purple flamingos made me LOL!)

Edelweiss Perennials is a small family-owned nursery nestled in the heart of the Willamette Valley, near Canby, Oregon. Owner Urs Baltensperger moved here in 1998 from Switzerland with a suitcase of perennials and the goal of starting his own nursery. They maintain good connections with friends and growers in Switzerland and Germany and periodically import choice plants from Europe. It is their goal to raise old and new varieties of specialty perennials that are sturdy, vigorous and ready to plant.

Here’s the complete list of Plant Market exhibitors. Tickets to the show are now on sale on our website at Early Bird prices. Or stop by a retail ticket outlet. You can find the closest here. ~ Janet
