Are You IN or OUT?

Are You IN or OUT?

Check out what Sunset Magazine says is IN and OUT for our gardens:

Single plant containers
Overstuffed containers
Soothing spring greens
Brassy orange with hot pink
Solar lighting

Tiki torches
Meditation spaces
Wedding-cake gazebos
Smart controllers
Wasteful irrigation

So I see some things in common here. For instance, we must be getting more conscious of our environmental impact considering that Solar Lighting is IN and Wasteful Irrigation is OUT (yippee to both).

And I wonder if “Soothing Spring Greens” means the color…or specific plants? And does both single plant containers and overstuffed plant containers being in mean that a pot with (let’s say) two plants in it is a faux pas?

I’m not to into the pink and orange, although I am getting more used to those colors together because of this blog and I am very OK with Wedding-Cake Gazebos and Meditation Spaces being on the OUTS.

What’s your opinion? Comment and let me know.

Meditation spaces are out? That is silliness. Meditate indoors?

Solar lighting in the Northwest is not a good option, unless these units have improved a lot!

Orange and hot pink are indeed hot. Especially with the young crowd. for my daughter’s senior HS semi-formal I made her a white halter dress, and did a bright orange/hot pink wristlet corsage with coordinating ribbon. Very Sharp.

Thanks for your comments. I guess I can see a “light” saturation of orange and hot pink as you describe. I imagine it really made the dress pop. And ok, perhaps meditation spaces, or at least the practice of meditating should never be on the “out” list. Hmmm. Someone call Sunset. ~Flora
