Two outstanding gardens not included in the judging process included the South Lobby’s “Entryway Garden,” created by the Flower Growers of Puget Sound, and the show’s popular “Wine Garden” created by Regan.

About the 2014 Show Garden Awards

Founder’s Cup – Garden that is deemed best in show and a majority favorite of a committee of judges for the other awards. Recipient receives a rotating trophy which must be relinquished prior to the following year’s show.

American Horticultural Society Environmental Award – garden that best demonstrates skillful design that incorporates environmental stewardship in the garden.  Judged by Medal Show Judges.

Pacific Horticulture Magazine Award – garden that best demonstrates the regional nature of garden design.  Judged by Pacific Horticulture representatives.  A permanent plaque is given.

Sunset’s Western Living Award – garden most filled with fresh, useful, achievable ideas that enhance outdoor living in the West. Judged by Sunset editors.  A permanent plaque is given.

Golden Palette Award” –  garden the best incorporates dramatic color from leaves, forced blooms and winter blooming plants. Judged by regional horticulture experts. A permanent plaque is given.

Best Theme – garden that captures the spirit of the 2013 theme, “The Silver Screen Takes root… Gardens Go Hollywood.” Judged by Seattle Film Festival staff. A permanent plaque is given.

“X-Factor Award” – garden that best captures the imagination of the next generation of garden designers. Judged by recent graduates of the regional horticulture programs. A permanent plaque is given.

425 Magazine Award – garden that dazzles thanks to smart design, creativity and originality. Judged by 425 Magazine editors. A permanent plaque is given.

Ethel Moss People’s Choice Award – favorite garden as voted by the public.  Recipient receives a permanent plaque, and a rotating trophy which must be relinquished prior to the following year’s show.

Fred Palmer Exhibitor Award – garden voted the most accomplished by fellow garden creators.  A permanent plaque is given.

Fine Gardening Award – garden that dazzles thanks to smart design, creativity and originality. Judged by Fine Gardening Magazine editors. A permanent plaque is given.
