Paul Zimmerman is the owner of Paul Zimmerman Roses, a company dedicated to “budding the rose grower in all of us.” He was mentored by Dr. Thomas Cairns, past President of both the American Rose Society and World Federation of Rose Societies. Along the way he met Mike Lowe of Lowe’s Roses and from there he founded Ashdown Roses Ltd., which he closed in 2009 to focus on rose growing education. Paul is an original founder of the Tinseltown Rose Society, serving as both Vice President and President. He has written articles for Fine Gardening, Organic Gardening, American Nurseryman and currently hosts the blog “Roses Are Plants, Too” on FineGardening.com. Paul is an active Consulting Rosarian and “Cyber CR” as well. He lectures internationally and has also served as an International juror for numerous Rose Trials. He is the author of Everyday Roses: The Casual Gardener’s Guide To Growing Knockout and Other Easy-Care Modern Roses (Taunton Press, 2013). Paul is the exclusive rose consultant to Biltmore in Asheville, NC. and is Director Of The Biltmore International Rose Trials. He is also currently partnered with Jackson & Perkins creating original videos for their website. While living in LA Paul founded “Hundred Acre Woods Rosescapeing”, which specialized in the care, design and installation of rose gardens; particularly Antique, Shrub and David Austin Roses. It is this hands-on experience with roses in a general garden setting that Paul draws on for his popular seminars, YouTube.com videos, articles, and workshops.
The Rose is the National Flower of the U.S. But here in the drizzly NW it can be frustrating to grow disease-free roses! Now you can discover how to grow roses beautifully and get answers to your rose questions. Join Consulting Rosarian and author Paul Zimmerman, ARS Master Rosarian Elena Williams and local rose author Nita-Jo Rountree for a look at which roses work best in NW gardens, how to grow them sustainably and organically, and how to integrate them into your garden for that beautiful “magazine cover” look.
