01 Jul Passing the Torch
It’s been a fun three years connecting with gardeners across the nation as the first Social Media Manager for the Northwest Flower & Garden Show. I have loved talking about the show and all the talented people who work together to bring 60,000 avid gardeners ideas and inspiration for their own gardens. I have heard countless times that the NWFGS is the finest garden show in the U.S., so I’m not going to even apologize for my bias.
Since June, 2010 I’ve posted 235 entries on The Garden Show Blog, (or 182,000 words, but who’s counting?), connected with 6,001 Facebook friends, and tweeted 6760 times. But all good things must come to an end, so after three years of blogging, posting, tweeting and pinning it felt like the right time to pass the torch.
I will continue to be the fearless Seminar Manager for the show (my 10th year), bringing you the finest seminar program of any garden show in the world. (Drat – there’s that shameless bias again.) The speaker proposals for the 2014 garden show have been pouring in, and it’s shaping up to be another stellar year of great speakers.
I’m pleased to be handing the torch to Mary Jezierski, a gardening enthusiast with a degree in Horticulture from WSU. She lives in Edmonds with her husband and very busy 1-yr. old daughter. Anyone who can work a backhoe is going to be right at home in the garden show crowd! I’ll let Mary introduce herself in her first blog, so be sure to stop by and say hello.
And stay tuned to our Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest pages, along with The Garden Show Blog as Mary brings you all the latest news as our 2014 garden show comes together. ‘Camp Horta Flora’ is happening once again, February 5 – 9, 2014 at the Washington State Convention Center. It’s the only place where you can truly experience everything gardening. ~ Janet
