25 Oct A New Season; After 26 years, Show Designer Cyle Eldred resigns
A Letter from Show Designer Cyle Eldred:
As fall arrives and the winds of change blow across the Pacific Northwest so change will blow across the Northwest Flower & Garden Show as I dig up my roots and begin the process of transplanting myself into a different career.
After much soul searching I have decided to resign my position as Show Designer with the Northwest Flower & Garden Show. I’ve worked every Show since its inception in 1989 and my last Show will be this coming Show in February of 2014.
You may ask why I’m resigning. I ask myself the same thing… Who quits a perfectly good job? One that I enjoy immensely, a fantastic employer in O’Loughlin Trade Shows, an exciting job with new and different elements every year, a job full of wonderful people, and a job that, frankly, I’m good at. Working for the Northwest Flower & Garden Show has been the best job I’ve had so far in my life.
Well, it’s the right time. My wife and I are ready for new adventures and I have some exciting opportunities before me that I want to be in a position to take advantage of. It’s as simple as that. I am grateful for management extending the opportunity to transition out of this phase of my life and into a new one while also completing the tasks of helping produce the 2014 Show and train my replacement.
We have hired Lloyd Glasscock to be my successor. Lloyd brings a fantastic set of skills and knowhow to The Show as he has been a long time Garden Creator, creating many Display Gardens over the years and has been a strong advocate of the Show. His knowledge of The Show and the industry make him well suited as my replacement. I’ve been training him for several weeks and now it’s time to start turning over more responsibilities to Lloyd. I will still be working for the show but will play a supporting role to Lloyd leading into and through the busy show season. Lloyd’s contact info is; [email protected] and cell phone, 425.422.3336.
Many thanks to all of you who support the Show and me year after year and have become my friends, not just industry partners. I’d love to stay in touch with all of you. My personal email address is [email protected] if you would like to contact me regarding non Garden Show topics. Otherwise my work email, [email protected] will remain active through February 28, 2014.
Don’t forget to attend the Show February 5-9, 2014 and say hello & good-bye.
